Shane Hall is a baritone from New Mexico who is a first-year Master’s student at Bard College Conservatory under the tutelage of Tyler Duncan. Before attending Bard, Shane performed in Albuquerque in operas and concert works and competed in song competitions, all while developing a passion for the works of underrepresented composers.

Shane graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance in 2025. At UNM, he performed roles in several operas with the UNM Opera theatre including Mark Adamo’s Little Women (Friedrich Bhaer and Mr. Dashwood), Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (Bartolo), and Britten’s Albert Herring (Mr. Gedge, the Vicar). Bach’s Magnificat, and J. S. Bach’s Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 61

In 2023, Shane completed his senior recital at UNM in which he exclusively performed the works of underrepresented composers, including Robert Owens’s 4 Motivations, Viktor Ullmann’s Der Mensch und sein Tag, and songs from Ethel Smyth, Carlos Guastavino, and Ned Rorem. Shane has competed in several competitions in Albuquerque including the Vocal Artistry Art Song Festival in 2023 where he earned the Carl Halama Award (5th place overall), and the Rio Grande division of the NATS Audition Competition where he has placed 1st in the Adult division and Upper Musical Theatre (Tenor/Baritone/Bass). At Bard, Shane performed in their 2026 performance of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi as Marco Donati, and will perform as The Policeman in Joseph Rumshinsky’s Khantshe in Amerike as part of a collaboration with the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research for their Sidney Krung Young Artists Concert Series.
